On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, Horizon Development Foundation successfully concluded its 2024 Eid Al-Adha meat distribution project for the year 1445 , with the support of several humanitarian and relief organizations.
The project benefitted 16,360 families, totaling 114,520 individuals, from poor and needy households in the governorates of Aden, Lahj, and Taiz, areas severely affected by displacement and the challenging conditions resulting from the ongoing conflict in the country.
Horizon Development Foundation aims to promote the principle of solidarity and support affected families in Yemen by distributing Eid Al-Adha meat, which plays a significant role in alleviating the burden of thousands of families, especially in governorates facing high displacement rates and difficult living conditions.
The foundation expresses its deep gratitude to all donors who contributed to supporting this year's Eid Al-Adha project.
It is worth noting that the Eid Al-Adha project is part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by Horizon Development Foundation in various humanitarian and relief sectors across several Yemeni governorates.
Due to the repercussions of the conflict and its negatively devastating effects on health facilities, more than half of the health facilities have been closed. Reports indicate that more than 16 million people do not receive basic health care, of whom about 10 million are in dire need of urgent health care.
Horizon Development Foundation pays special attention to the health sector, providing primary, secondary and advanced health care services targeting the most vulnerable groups, especially the displaced, orphans and people with special needs.
The health sector seeks to expand the scope of emergency response and provide health care through many health activities, which are:
- Mobile medical clinics.
- Free medical camps.
- Distribution of incubators for children and premature babies
Horizon Foundation for Development Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) sector supports economic empowerment through various projects. These initiatives assess livelihood opportunities for vulnerable households and evaluate potential interventions in targeted camps.
Tailored livelihood programs and economic integration require identifying specific needs related to vulnerability. Horizon Development Foundation conducts a livelihood assessment in targeted areas before implementing any project, using evidence-based, market-driven, and community-led approaches.
Projects are thereby directed towards the job market, focusing on protection, reaching the most vulnerable groups, emphasizing generalized protection, and promoting women's empowerment.
Through these methods, aid effectiveness adapts to specific needs, capacities, and vulnerabilities across genders, ages, and disabilities. This enables vulnerable groups to access safe economic opportunities, earn sustainable incomes, and rebuild their lives
